description Take the Virtual Tour! - STONY BROOK STATE PARK Stony Brook State Park's terrain comprises hilly woodlands; a deep gorge with rugged cliffs overlooking three waterfalls; and fascinating rock formations. Tent and trailer campsites are scattered in the woodlands above the gorge in the upper, or south, end of the park. Visitors can hike rim, gorge, or nature trails, play tennis on park courts, picnic, or swim in the park's stream-fed guarded swimming pool. In winter, three miles of cross-country trails are available for skiers.

importantInformation Each year the campground makes every effort to provide safe swimming opportunities by testing the water and by keeping the swimming areas staffed with lifeguards. Please be aware that if the safety of our swimmers is compromised, due to lack of lifeguard coverage or water quality issues, swimming will be prohibited and therefore cannot be a guaranteed activity. We apologize for this inconvenience as it may occur with little advance notice. See HERE for all current swimming closures! Please note:The gorge trail does not open until the end of May, depending on safety conditions. Rustic Cabins!! available at Stony Brook State Park! Offering 4-person cabins - a perfect solution for campers who like tents & cabins. Offer protection from the elements, but no electricity or water. To insure fairness for all NY customers, any reservation with departure dates outside the 9-month Maximum Window can not be changed or cancelled until 18 days after the reservation was made. Reservations for campsites may be booked 9 months in advance for a 1-night minimum stay. All sites have a picnic table and a fire ring. There are NO electric sites at this campground. Alcoholic beverages are NOT permitted. Only 2 pets per site are permitted. Pets must have a current rabies certificate and be on a leash and attended at all times. Bicycles are allowed on paved roads only. Visitors are required to pay a vehicle fee and leave the park by 10:00 p.m. Quiet hours are from 10 pm to 8 am. Peak Season: During peak season, a camping party and their equipment may occupy a site for a maximum of 14 continuous days. After which, the camping party and equipment must leave the site and facility for 2 days before registering again for another site.
